Whittard of Chelsea are looking to recruit a Management Accountant to join their growing finance team. Founded in 1886, Whittard of Chelsea’s founder Walter’s philosophy was simple: buy the best. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will:
- Take joint responsibility for finalising all aspects of the monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting & forecasting, including taking responsibility for various P&Ls & cost centres; and assisting in the production of the annual financial budget.
- Assisting the Finance Controller with a variety of compliance tasks, including Intrastat reporting & insurance renewals.
- Manage the cashflow & sales ledger, including running weekly & quarterly cashflow.
- Manage two direct reports and ensure consistent performance & development.
- Ensure positive internal & external audit performance.
We are keen to consider you for the Management Accountant role, if you:
- Have previous experience in a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant role or similar.
- Are CIMA or ACCA qualified, or a finalist in either qualification.
- Have competent knowledge of cashflow & sales with retail or stock accounting experience being hugely advantageous.
The role itself…
The Management Accountant will also take responsibility for an existing Accounts Assistant and a Financial Analyst that the business is currently hiring. You will have previously managed P&L’s and, ideally, stock and have a positive attitude with a keen desire to develop both yourself and your direct reports. Contact with stakeholders in the wider business, as well as external contacts, is crucial and you will be confident, reassuring & professional in all communications. Acting as “number two” to the Financial Controller, you will take a pivotal role in the forward growth of the team.
